Blanking plate won't work on a 1.6TDCi Focus. It causes the EML at best, and limp mode at worst on these. If the PCM is detecting a fault with the EGR, a blanking plate won't stop that anyway, you'll just end up with the same 'EGR stuck closed' fault because it uses the flow through the MAF to determine whether the EGR opens or not.

Hi , since purchasing my 10 plate 1.6 focus TDCI 2 1/2 years ago i have been plagued with EGR faults, the dealer fitted 2bthat did not work properly so he sent it to the main dealership which cured it/ This one lasted about 15 months before failing . i have removed it about 4 months ago and cleaned it , but it has now started to play up again

This is my second 2011 Mk2.5 1.6 TDCI (the first was written off a couple of years ago by some f**kwit running a red light!) and the EML is on. Forscan reads this as P042F EGR valve stuck closed. I've back probed the connector and have the following readings: Pin 5 ground - checked for continuity to good earth - OK
