Theres a couple different benefits of dry sump, a naturally built in oil cooler and most the oil resides in the frame while bike is running , motor is only circulating oil that is needed, with out the oil reserve drag, motors can spin up faster. Posted December 8, 2007. compared to all the modern 4 strokes the KTM is the easiest to maintain, that said they cant compare to the simplicity of an old air cooled bike, i adjust my valves about ever 20 hours it takes less than an hour, oil changes about every 10 hours, you only need to change the oil filters every 3rd oil change, everytihng
Honda once again is tone deaf. I have a Suzuki DR-Z400s and KTM 350 EXC-F in my garage. This bike can’t compete with either of them. The beauty of the Suzuki is that’s it’s bullet proof, super low maintenance, daily rider. It has 3,500 mile oil changes, 15,000 mile valve checks. Many DR-Zs go 50,000+ miles with nothing but basic maintenance.
