I'm at 40k miles with my original pads/rotors and the on board computer system said I have something like 12,000 miles left on the front and about 16,000 miles left on the rear.
BMW X3 m40i has about 20,000 miles and already needs new tires. Took my car to the dealership and they said I needed new tires soon. Dealer said people usually get 25,000 miles out of their tires on their M vehicles.
Note the comment in this article, that most brake pad companies and mechanics agree that pads typically last between 30,000 and 70,000 miles. Fronts tend to be 30K-50k, rears about 50K-60K. A number of BMW 3-series owners report typical life 30K front, 45k rear, yet you also read about 70K fronts and 95k rears in 3-series.
